I came to education as a second career after being in the military for my first career. I have been in the middle school environment since day one and I love the middle school aged child.
Welcome to the Furman Middle School webpage. I am looking forward to an exciting 2009-2010 school year. The professionals at Furman are working hard to increase the number of children who are successful both academically and on the PASS Test, and who handle the hormonal and social challenges of the middle school years with equanimity. This will be accomplished through two rock-solid educational foundations: rigor in the classroom and enforcement of discipline. This requires the active participation of all adults and children at Furman Middle School. Teachers will be instructing for 54 minutes in each class. Students will have the full slate of educational choices for the school day. There will also be a full line-up of extra-curricular activities including but not limited to: football, basketball, track and field, and cheerleading. Together, the academic and non-academic items above will challenge the whole child. Finally, the input of parents is critical in the educational growth of the child.
